Product Description: Earth Saver™ Straw Wattles are manufactured from certified 100% weed free rice straw and wrapped in a tubular black plastic netting. The netting has a strand thickness of 0.030 inch, knot thickness of 0.055 inch and a unit weight of 0.35 ounce per foot (each plus or minus 10%). The netting is made from 85% high density polyethylene, 14% ethyl vinyl acetate and 1% color for UV inhibition. The Earth Saver™ Straw Wattles are nine inches in diameter (plus or minus one inch), twenty-five feet long (plus or minus 0.5 foot), and weigh 30 pounds (plus or minus 10%). The Earth Saver™ Straw Wattles are now available in 12" and the new 20" diameter wattles to replace traditional straw bale barriers. They are also available with biodegradable netting.

Earth Saver™ Straw Wattles are the only patented and tested wattles on the market today. They were tested at San Diego State University's Soil Erosion Laboratory and demonstrated that they reduced off-site sediment delivery by 58%. The laboratory rainfall simulator testing also proved that Earth Saver™ Straw Wattles reduced run-off water velocities and released water at a steady rate.
